EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured therapy that encourages the patient to focus briefly on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories.

Adaptive Information Processing: We help your brain "digest" stuck memories so they become part of the past, not the present.
No Retraumatization: You do not need to provide every graphic detail for the therapy to work.

Complex Trauma (C-PTSD)

Unlike single-incident trauma, Complex Trauma often stems from repeated relational wounds or neglect. Our approach prioritizes "Safety First." We act as an external support system to help you organize your experiences and regain control.

Window of Tolerance: We work carefully to keep you within your emotional safety zone, preventing overwhelm.
The Cluster Method: We identify "themes" (like "I am unsafe") rather than getting lost in individual bad memories.

Individual Counseling

We provide a warm, relational space for navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationship issues. Our therapy is not just about symptom reduction; it is about building a life worth living.

Relational Focus: Healing happens in connection. We offer a consistent, attuned therapeutic relationship.
Parts Work: Understanding the different parts of yourself (e.g., the protector, the inner child) with compassion.

Intensive In-Home Services

Sometimes, the most critical work happens outside the office. Our Intensive In-Home program brings therapeutic support directly to your family's natural environment. We focus on crisis stabilization, preventing out-of-home placement, and building practical skills where they matter most.

Family Stabilization: De-escalating conflict and creating a safety plan for the entire household.
Real-Time Skill Building: Modeling and practicing regulation techniques in the moment, not just talking about them later.

The Three-Pronged Approach

In our EMDR and trauma work, we don't just dwell on the past. We use a comprehensive framework to ensure your healing integrates into your actual life.

1

The Past

Processing the root events ("Touchstone Memories") that laid the foundation for your current struggles.

2

The Present

Desensitizing the current triggers—the situations, people, or places that set off your alarm system today.

3

The Future

Building "Future Templates." We help you mentally rehearse handling future challenges with calm and confidence.

Common Questions

Do I have to talk about my worst memories right away?
Absolutely not. In Phase 1 (History Taking), we only need "headlines," not details. We spend significant time on stabilization and resourcing before we ever open up traumatic material. You are in control of the pace.
How is this different from regular talk therapy?
While talk therapy focuses on cognitive insight, EMDR focuses on the brain's processing system. We are trying to move the memory from being "stuck" in the nervous system to being a narrative memory that no longer carries the same emotional charge.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes. We offer secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth sessions for clients residing within the state.
